Detailed Introduction to OMRON Proximity Switch Sensors

Omron sensors are sensors that use photoelectric devices as conversion elements. It can be used to detect non electrical quantities that directly cause changes in the amount of light, such as light intensity, illuminance, radiation temperature measurement, gas composition analysis, etc; It can also be used to detect other non electrical quantities that can be converted into changes in light, such as part diameter, surface roughness, strain, displacement, vibration, velocity, acceleration, as well as recognition of object shape and working state.

The OMRON position sensor is a sensor that uses photoelectric elements as detection elements. It first converts the measured changes into changes in optical signals, and then further converts the optical signals into electrical signals using optoelectronic components. Photoelectric sensors are generally composed of three parts: a light source, an optical path, and a photoelectric element. There are various optical measurement and control systems made from different principles of the action of light flux on photoelectric components. According to the output properties of photoelectric components (optical measurement and control systems), they can be divided into two categories: analog photoelectric sensors and pulse (switch) photoelectric sensors. An analog photoelectric sensor converts the measured signal into a continuously changing photocurrent, which exhibits a single value relationship with the measured signal. Analog photoelectric sensors can be divided into three categories based on the method of being measured (detecting target objects): transmission (absorption) type, diffuse reflection type, and shading type (beam blocking). The so-called transmission type refers to the light energy emitted by a constant light source passing through the tested object when it is placed in the optical path. After some of it is absorbed, the transmitted light is projected onto the photoelectric element; The so-called diffuse reflection type refers to the light emitted by a constant light source projected onto the tested object, which is then reflected from the surface of the tested object and projected onto the photoelectric element; The so-called shading type refers to when a portion of the light flux emitted by the light source is blocked by the measured object's light, causing a change in the light flux projected onto the photoelectric element. The degree of change is related to the position of the measured object in the optical path.
