The main method of propagation for triangular plum is cutting, which is usually carried out from March to June. Firstly, select a 1-2 year old thick outer layer of sunny branches and cut them into about 8-10cm long cuttings with 3-4 nodes. Then, insert the cuttings diagonally onto the substrate at a depth of approximately 4-6 cm. After cutting, water and place in a slightly shaded area for maintenance. New roots can grow in 20-30 days, and can be transplanted into pots in 50-60 days.
Propagation method of triangular plum
1. Selection of cuttings: Use 1-2 year old thick outer sunny branches, and do not use over slender branches, immature branches, elongated branches, or shaded branches. Remove the selected cuttings and use a small knife to cut them to a length of about 8-10cm. Reserve 3-4 segments, with the lower part slanted. At 5-10 millimeters below the segment, remove the lower leaves and retain the upper two and a half (full) leaves as cuttings.
2. Cutting time: Generally conducted from March to June, when the temperature is suitable (20-30 degrees Celsius), the humidity is high, and management is convenient. Insert the cuttings diagonally onto the substrate at a depth of approximately 4-6 cm, then water them and place them in a slightly shaded area for maintenance.
3. Daily maintenance: Sparse light can be seen within 15 days after cutting, and gradually increase the lighting in the future, with full sunlight for about 25 days. Keep the substrate moist in the early stage, and gradually "dry to wet" after 40 days. Spray one thousandth of potassium phosphate and urea once every ten days.
4. Transplant to the pot: Triangle plum cuttings first sprout and grow branches before taking root, so do not transplant to the pot when sprouting and growing branches. After cutting, new roots are usually grown for 20-30 days. The seedlings that survive after 40 days are tempered in strong sunlight for a week, and transplanted to pots within 50-60 days.
