Before filtering oil in the filter press, install a filter cloth on the filter plate, which is often made of high-strength 20s/6 shuttle free tarpaulin. The filter cloth should be installed to avoid wrinkles. Use a compression device to compress the filter plates before filtering.
When the filter press starts filtering, due to the lack of suitable filtering channels, the filtrate is generally turbid and must be returned to the oil to be filtered for re filtration. Only when the filter residue layer reaches a certain thickness and the filtered oil is clear can it be collected into the clean oil.
As the filtration time prolongs, when the filter residue in the filter frame accumulates to a certain thickness and the filtration resistance displayed on the pressure gauge installed on the oil inlet pipe reaches a certain value (usually 340kPa), the filter press needs to be shut down for cleaning.
Before loosening the filter press, compressed air should be introduced and the pressure should be slowly increased to squeeze out the grease inside the filter residue to reduce residual oil. When cleaning the filter residue, loosen the compression mechanism, loosen the filter plate, and use a small shovel (preferably a wooden shovel) to scrape the filter residue off the filter cloth to avoid damaging the filter cloth. The filter cloth needs to be replaced and washed regularly. Washing can be done by rinsing with hot water, and some companies may use solvents to wash the filter cloth, but it is important to avoid boiling with alkaline water.
