As a cross vendor technology, PROFINET can be fully compatible with Industrial Ethernet and existing field bus (such as PROFIBUS) technology
In order to achieve the above communication functions, the following three communication protocol levels have been defined.
TCP/IP is designed for PROFINET CBA and factory debugging, with a response time of approximately 100ms.
The RT (Real Time) communication protocol is designed for PROFINET CBA and PROFINET IO applications, with a response time of less than 10ms.
3. The IRT (isochronous real-time) communication protocol is for PROFINET IO communication of the drive system, with a response time of less than 1ms.

The International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) divides Ethernet into many categories according to different transmission media and Baud, and uses the following general format for naming: signal rate (Mbit/s) bandwidth (baseband or broadband) - length (m) or cable type; For example, the earliest and most classic Ethernet standard was 10BASE-5, which represents a transmission rate of 10 Mbit/s and belongs to the baseband network (BASE) with a transmission distance of 500 meters. The 10BASE-T standard released in 1990 was a milestone in the development of Ethernet, achieving data transmission of 10 Mbit/s on twisted pair. Ten megabit (10M) Ethernet has been basically phased out, with the majority being hundred megabit (100M) and gigabit (1000M) Ethernet. The current Profinet network foundation is based on two types of 100 Gigabit Ethernet: 100BASE-TX and 100BASE-FX. 100BASE-TX: where 100 represents 100 Gigabit Ethernet, BASE represents baseband network, and T represents twisted pair. Its physical layer transmission medium is twisted pair, but only two pairs (four wires) of them are used, and the typical network topology is star shaped; 100BASE-TX is the mainstream 100 Gigabit Ethernet technology, which has strict requirements for cables and connectors and must be Category 5 (CAT5) or above. The Profinet network with twisted pair transmission medium is based on 100BASE-TX Ethernet, and can use four wires for transmission while ensuring the network cable level. That's why the Profinet cables seen on site are all four core. The Profinet cable can be distinguished by color (white, yellow, blue, orange). Simply insert the corresponding color cable into the corresponding color channel of the RJ45 quick plug connector (white, yellow, blue, orange for 1, 2, 3, and 6 of RJ45 respectively)
