Polylactic acid (PLA) is a new type of biodegradable material made from starch derived from renewable plant resources such as corn. The raw material of Corn starch is made into lactic acid through fermentation, and then converted into polylactic acid through chemical synthesis. It has good biodegradability and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature after use, generating carbon dioxide and water without polluting the environment

PLA polylactic acid exhibits stable performance at room temperature, but it automatically degrades under weak alkaline or oxygen rich conditions above 550C under the action of microorganisms. After use, it can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature, ultimately generating carbon dioxide and water. Unlike traditional petroleum based plastics, which increase the release of carbon dioxide, the carbon dioxide generated during the degradation process of polylactic acid can be reused as carbon atoms required for plant photosynthesis.
