Automatic rail welding has become the standard connection method for high integrity gas and liquid systems used in the semiconductor and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries. These systems have high purity and sealing properties. sinceSince the mid-1980s, a complete industry has developed, supplying valves, accessories, regulators, instruments, and other components for rail welding and high-purity applications. For high-purity pipeline welding, only one fully enclosed welding head can be used.

 

Rail welding is almost always carried out entirely using inert gas technology, using non consumable electrodes with additional cold wire feeding. The easy control of heat input makes argon arc welding an ideal welding method for all track welded pipes with track welding heads, which include clamping devices, tungsten rods on track travel devices, and protective gas chambers. Many different types of metals can be welded; High strength, high temperature and corrosion resistant steel, non alloy steel and low alloy steel, nickel alloy, titanium, copper, aluminum and related alloys.

The results produced by this controlled technique in an inert atmosphere are very clean, with low particle count and no splashing. This can meet the high requirements for the mechanical and optical properties of the weld seam. Due to the accuracy of rail welding, even small standard pipe diameters ranging from 6 millimeters can be machined. On a larger scale, pipes with a diameter of 170mm and walls with a wall thickness of 3.5mm can be connected using closed chamber welded joints.

These welding joints allow the pipeline to be safely held. The inert gas atmosphere in a closed room prevents thermal coloring, even for sensitive materials. For pipes with diameters between 8 and 200mm, more easily managed open welded joints can be used (except for high-purity applications).

A flexible hose system is used to provide power, inert gas, cooling water, and welding joints required for welding wires. Whether to fill the welding wire during the welding process depends on the type of welding task; Thick pipe walls and difficult to control parent materials require the use of additional materials, while thin-walled pipes can be welded without the need for additional wires. In order to have high-quality welds, it is important that the end of the pipe is prepared and the edge of the workpiece is free of scale and impurities. For thin-walled pipes of medium diameter, a simple right angle saw cut is sufficient. For thicker pipe walls, it is necessary to prepare the edges more carefully.
